Dr. DeOrchis is a board-certified neurologist with subspecialty fellowship training in Clinical Neurophysiology and Neuromuscular Disorders. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine in EMG and Neuromuscular Ultrasound, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology.
He earned a B.S. in Neural Science from New York University and a Master’s degree in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University. He received his Doctor of Medicine from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Following internship at St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center, he completed his Neurology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s Montefiore Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident and earning recognition as House Officer of the Year. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology and Neuromuscular Disease at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Dr. DeOrchis currently serves as Director of Neurology, Stroke Director, and President of the Medical Staff Society at St. Francis Hospital and Heart Center, where he led the development of the Catholic Health System’s first interventional stroke program — now a Joint Commission–certified Mechanical Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurology at Hofstra Medical School and an attending neurologist at North Shore University Hospital.
He has a strong interest in neuroimaging and clinical technology innovation. He collaborated with Fujifilm to establish the first Synergy Series MRI system in the United States at Physicians’ OpenMRI. His passion for medical software development has led to the creation of several digital tools, including BrainMetrix, an advanced report generator with integrated analytics for three-dimensional MRI–based quantitative volumetric morphometry, and Headway: Migraine Monitoring, a patient-centered iOS application for tracking migraine events.
Dr. DeOrchis has presented original research at national meetings and has been published in peer-reviewed journals including Headache, Neurology, Neurology International, Journal of Vascular Diseases, and Muscle & Nerve. He serves as a principal investigator on numerous clinical trials and has been recognized as one of New York’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly and as the only neurologist in Nassau County named to Super Doctors 2025 by The New York Times.
Dr. Podwall practices general neurology with a subspecialty in Neuromuscular Diseases. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He has held several leadership positions in the American Medical Association, Medical Society of the State of New York, Nassau County Medical Society, and the Nassau Academy of Medicine.
Dr. Podwall graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science, with distinction in Neurobiology. He received his M.D. from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he was the recipient of the Alfred Angiest Award for excellence in pathology research. He completed his internal medicine internship at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and his residency in Neurology at The Neurological Institute of Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.
Following residency, Dr. Podwall completed a Neuromuscular fellowship at Columbia University, where he acquired extensive experience in electromyography (EMG). While at Columbia he had multiple publications, including two reviews of diabetic neuropathy. He has published in journals including Current Neurology and Neuroscience Reports, The Neurologist, Journal of Neurology, Cancer Investigation, Journal of Child Neurology, and Medical Mycology.
Dr. Podwall currently serves as President of the Nassau County Medical Society, where he has been honored for his efforts to improve access to healthcare on Long Island and protect the interests of physicians. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Neurology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, and serves as Principal Investigator on numerous clinical trials in the area of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. He has been recognized for outstanding teaching by the Department of Medicine at North Shore.
